Phone Consultation
If you are interested in pursuing treatment with me, call or e-mail me to schedule a complementary 15-minute phone consultation during which we can decide if we will be a good match to work together. This will involve me getting a sense of your presenting concerns and answering any questions you have about treatment, my approach, fees, etc. I can provide you with potential referrals that may be a better fit if I decide I may not be able to best help you.
Individual Therapy
If we decide to start treatment together, we will schedule an initial intake appointment. This process may occur over several initial sessions and can look different than a typical therapy session in that I will be asking questions so I can better understand your presenting concerns, contextual factors, and your history across childhood development, treatment, relationships, work, school, and medical concerns. This will allow me to develop a comprehensive road map that will inform your specific treatment plan. My style is to be fully transparent about my assessment and present you with all of the options for the types of approaches we might take so that your treatment plan is collaboratively developed. I take a holistic and functional medicine approach to healing, which means I may recommend other resources that may be of further assistance, depending on your treatment goals.
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly and last between 45-50 minutes. The duration of treatment can greatly vary depending on a number of factors, including the complexity of your presenting concerns, your motivation to engage in treatment, ongoing life stressors, the quality of your support system, and the specific approach(es) we are using. Many evidence-based treatments I use show that symptoms can be significantly reduced within 12-30 sessions, although typically for those presenting with interpersonal/attachment trauma histories and an interest in EMDR therapy longer term treatment is indicated. One important thing to note about the healing journey is it simply cannot be rushed and, ironically, the more you try to rush it the greater the likelihood of it back-firing (although sometimes this experience is in and of itself necessary for learning). I intend for us to continually revisit your treatment plan and collaboratively discuss your care throughout our process together.
